Welcome to the Ford Capri of Podcasts!

The Minder Podcast is a show launched July 2021 in honour of the greatest television show of all time.

I am your host Paul Stenning. More about me can be found here.

My enjoyable obsession is Minder and my initial wish back in the early 2000s was to write a book on the show, featuring interviews with as many of the original actors, actresses, writers and other staff or people involved as possible.

Thanks to the wonderful Minder.org there were some great possibilities for interviewees, from Meic Povey to Nicholas Day. My own work behind the scenes brought me to the equally wonderful Gennie Nevinson and several other greats from the programme. It became a labour of love and unfortunately paid work had to take precedence. I simply did not have the time to do it justice.

The great news is that many of the cast members and writers are still going strong. Our first guest, George Layton, is looking stylish and trim at 78! As he says, he thinks he looks “bloody marvellous”. Quite right too.

Fast forward a few years and it became clear to me that if I could not do the book I was going to miss the opportunity to interview some of the people who were in the early episodes. The sober realisation is that none of them will live forever. In time I wish to bring tribute shows to the likes of Leon Griffiths, George Cole and Glynn Edwards as well as and Mark Farmer to name just a few. They were all a tremendous part of what made Minder special.

And so we will be looking to people involved with the Terry McCann years for the earlier episodes and over time we will move through the years as well as including some offbeat shows from time to time. As a fan I hope to ask as much about behind the scenes as the person can remember to bring Minder to life in a new way. It’s also important to me to recognise the amazing work of these television greats and also to maintain the awareness of Minder for fans who never stopped watching as well as those new viewers who are just discovering the show.

In time there might also be exclusive content for members of the (virtual) Winchester Club.

Generally episodes will be available every three to four weeks.

Thank you for reading and listening and don’t forget:
